Born in Moscow a few years before the nuclear war, Artyom has lived his entire life in the Metro and on many occasions risked his life to protect it.
He is obsessed with the idea of finding life beyond the tunnels of the Metro, regularly venturing outside with a radio transceiver, trying to establish communications with the outside world.
He is determined to prove that there is, indeed, life outside the Metro.
Miller's daughter and Artyom's wife, Anna is your advisor and will also provide support on missions away from The Aurora.
She is regarded as the best sniper amongst the Spartan Rangers, so you can feel at ease with her watching your back.
Anna is known for her indomitable attitude, but she still believes in kindness, compromise, and forgiveness, and will advocate for finding a peaceful solution where possible.
Colonel Miller lost his legs in the battle for D6, but this hasn't slowed him down.Equipped with new metal legs, and as stubborn as ever, he is the commander of the Aurora.
Always the military figure, he is rational, calculating and often harsh.
Mission success is at the top of Miller's priotrity list, but he deeply cares for the Spartans whom, along with Anna, he considers his family.
Before Judgement Day, Sam used to guard the US Embassy in Moscow and is now Miller's professional bodyguard. He is loved by the rest of the team, both for his unending optimism and his combat skills, which are second to none.
With Sam protecting The Aurora, you know the base of operations is in safe hands.
After learning that the world beyond Moscow is not completely dead, he dreams of one day visiting his homeland.
Born in Kazakhstan, Damir has always felt like an outsider in the Rangers. Despite that, he is unwaveringly loyal to Miller and your group.
He deeply cares about his comrades and, as your medic for the journey, makes sure everyone gets the attention they need.
Going east with the rest of your crew, he hopes to meet some of his relatives on the journey.
With years of distinguished service in the ranks of Spartan Rangers, Stepan is part of Miller's personal retinue. A heavy weapon specialist and one of the strongest fighters on The Aurora, towering at least a head taller than the others, he is someone you'd want by your side in any battle. Rest assured that Stepan's position will never be overrun by enemies. Despite his size and intimidating appearance, Stepan is a genuine hopeless romantic, and will always try to help out those in need.
Need technical expertise? Tokarev is the man you go to. Renowned among the Spartan Rangers, he is responsible for creating many of their weapons and modifications.
A man hopelessly in love with his job, he spends most of his time in the workshop aboard The Aurora working on equipment and weapons.
When he's not making new kit, he has hours of stories to tell... About weapons of course.
A child and the sole survivor at the Novosibirsk Metro, Kirill was waiting stoically for his father to return, who never did. Quick, agile and wise beyond his years, Kirill helps Artyom and Miller to navigate the highly radioactive landscape of Novosibirsk, find the satellite maps they need and gives them two doses of "green stuff", a radiation slowing substance he was saving for his escape to a new home beyond the Metro with his father. A survivor, and a symbol of hope for the future.
A seasoned adventurer with a 'rugged' style and overflowing charisma, Krest is an instant hit with all who meet him.
He also happens to be a natural-born engineer. Which could come in very handy if you were, for example, to take a large steam engine on an epic journey across the boundless Russian wasteland.
A train engineer in his previous life, Yermak is one of the few surviving Metro personnel from before the war. When it comes to The Aurora, Yermak knows absolutely everything. From the complex mechanisms of the steam engine right down to the smallest bolt. He will work tirelessly to keep the 'old gal' running and make sure you get to your destination. You can be sure of that.
A former employee of the research institute in Novosibirsk, the once-good doctor became trapped in the Yamantau Government facility, where supplies dwindled and cannibalism became a means for survival. The leader of the Yamantau Cannibals, who has suffered debilitating effects from consuming the sick, he devised a hellish plan to lure unsuspecting survivors to the complex via impersonating a minister in order to feed the ghoulish souls that populate the facility. An intelligent man, yet utterly insane.
Silantius is the leader of a destructive anti-technology cult that has completely taken over the shantytown built on the bridge over the Volga river. Distrusting of the weapons that destroyed this world, he and his followers have rejected modern technology in all forms.
Cunning and manipulative, he will do whatever it takes to protect his power, defend the Bridge and wipe out any non-believer heretics who get in his way.
The Baron is the ruthless, cruel and power-hungry tyrannical leader of the Fire-Worshippers. With them he controls the Caspian Sea region, an area that has been his undisputed ‘kingdom’ for years.
His tyrannical rule is unquestioningly accepted by most of his subjects in a considerable part due to his status as Voice of the imaginary “Holy Flame”, but also because of his ability to keep the competing gangs at bay. Without the Baron, the region could simply end up being left uninhabited.
